Hello, my name is Dr. Jessica Woo

When I was a dental student at UCLA, I experienced first-hand the sheer number of adults and children not getting the proper dental care due to fear, anxiety, or other psycho-medical reasons. It was heartbreaking to see patients coming in with severe pain or rampant tooth decay that could have been simply prevented with routine dental care.

I will never forget our care of a severely autistic 6-year-old child under sedation. After completing the dental work, I went to the recovery area to speak with the mother, who hugged me, and with tears in her eyes said, "Thank you, we went to multiple offices where they told us that they could not see my child due to his medical condition. I am so happy he got his teeth fixed." I grew fascinated by the sophistication of anesthesia and its positive impact on one’s oral health, and this drove me to pursue post-graduate training in dental anesthesiology.

I moved to New York to complete a residency program at Jacobi Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center in the heart of the Bronx. I functioned as a core anesthesiology resident for a variety of cases including trauma, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, and general pediatric surgery. I was able to expand my knowledge and experience at Rose F. Kennedy Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities Research Center, where I provided
anesthesia for dental procedures to patients with disabilities
including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, ADHD, and autism spectrum
disorder.

It is truly rewarding to empower patients to get through dental procedures they might struggle with due to various reasons. I enjoy working with patients of all ages, and I have extensive experience with children and patients with special needs.

Besides anesthesiology, my passions include teaching and life-long learning. When I am not with a patient, I am always learning something or discovering a restaurant in the city.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have, and I look forward to being by your side to help you or your loved ones through their dental procedure!

Dr. Woo currently holds license to practice dentistry and general anesthesia permit in New York and Virginia. She holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Have you ever had fun at a dental office? My goal is to make this experience as fun and easy as possible, especially for our pediatric patients.
